Write a document in NextSign
See how to write a document right in NextSign, with fields and optional paragraphs, and use it on a case.
If you don't have a finished document, you can write it right in NextSign. The editor works like an ordinary word processor, and you can add fields that are filled in on each case. The document becomes a template you can send again and again.
Below, the steps are described.
How to do it
- Start a new document. Under Documents, click "New document" and choose "Write it yourself".
- Write the text. Give the document a name and write the text. Use the toolbar for headings, bold and lists. You can also type # followed by a space for a heading.
- Add fields. Click "Insert field" and choose Text field. Enter what the field is called, such as Client name. The field is inserted where the cursor is.
- Make paragraphs optional. Put the cursor in the paragraph, click "Insert field" and choose "Show only if…". You then choose on each case whether the paragraph is included.
- Save. Click "Save". To keep the previous version, save as a new version.
- Use the document. Under Documents, hover over the document and choose "Single case". You fill in the fields under "Document fields".
Good to know
- With List, you create a repeating list, such as services or participants, with one item per row that's filled in.
- Fields such as the company's name, address and today's date can be filled in automatically. See Global fields under Documents.
- Under Versions, you can see earlier versions of the document and bring them back.
Questions and answers
Can I use the document for a mass send?
Yes. The document can be used as a template just like an uploaded Word document with fields.
Can I give the fields a type, such as date?
Fields in a written document are text fields. If you need dates, dropdowns and other types, upload a Word document with fields and set them up under the document's fields.
